A Time Away, A Time to Bloom
August 19-21, 2008
Facilitated by Daniel Moser and Hilary Barrett
An Alban Institute video on pastor/parish relations committees points out that pastors have few free weekends and almost never have the “3-day weekends” others enjoy on a regular basis.
We invite you to experience a “long weekend” of Sabbath keeping and renewal in the middle of the week. We will gather in the beautiful new Kline Building of the Mensch Mill Retreat Center. Surrounded by rolling hills and forests it’s a perfect place to come away. Many cell phones don’t even work there! You will spend three days with 13 other colleagues. It will be a time of nourishing rest and reflection, beginning with breakfast on Tuesday morning and ending mid-afternoon on Thursday.
Our time together will include reflections on four works of literature chosen by the leaders. We will examine these books together to savor the writers’ craft, to enter into the story, and hear what it has to say to us as preachers and human beings.
All participants will receive reading materials free of charge in advance of our time together. Participants must covenant to give themselves the gift of time to read the books before they arrive.
